Radiohead's OK Computer is probably my favourite album of all
time, and certainly one of the eternal classic albums that will ever be
released. Thom has stated that OK Computer is about "everything being
completely fucked up", which it is. Or at least, which it seems to
be. There's a certain quality to it which is really trying to express
the world becoming less and less human. this is especially prevalent
in America in the 1990's. While all the songs on OK Computer move
towards this horrible empty feeling, there is no real "OK Computer song"...
yet there is one which is known for being called OK Computer. It
is a B-side, and it's called Palo Alto. See if you can see why it's
about emptiness in the nineties. And as a little hint, the name Palo
Alto is the name of the area of California which is home to many large
computing corporations, including Microsoft. It's often referred
to as the "city of the future".
Palo Ato Radiohead
In a city of the future
It is difficult to concentrate
Meet the boss, meet the wife
Everybody's happy
Everyone is made for life
In a city of the future
It is difficult to find a space
I'm too busy to see you
You're too busy to wait
But I'm okay, how are you?
Thanks for asking, thanks for asking
But I'm okay, how are you?
I hope you're okay too
Everyone one of those days
When the sky's California blue
With a beautiful bombshell
I throw myself into my work
I'm too lazy, I've been kidding myself for so long
But I'm okay, how are you?
Thanks for asking, thanks for asking
But I'm okay, how are you?
I hope you're okay too
